Auto-processing set to replace Outsourcing

Gartner again fails to understand COBIT

Marketing company Gartner has released comments about COBIT 5 that, like its previous statements about COBIT, show a lack of understanding of the new COBIT 5 framework for information and technology management.

Gartner chooses to describe COBIT 5 as "not a recipe for success" without offering any alternative. Its analysts have found the alignment of COBIT 5 with ISO 15504, the international standard for capability modeling, overwhelming and are unable to link capability improvement with sustainability objectives. Gartner's biggest mistake is not being able to recognise that COBIT 5 provides considerable guidance regarding "HOW" to manage information and technology, more so than any other framework currently available.

Unfortunately Gartner's review lacks any depth and fails to recognise the significant changes to the management of information and technology proposed in the three tiered model for governance, management and operating information and technology services.
